Man of the Match:          Mk Thunder – Paul Gore

                                    Cardiff Dragons – Steve Fisher

Cardiff Dragons left the Thunderdome with the two points after a comfortable 7-1 win over an under par MK Thunder. In a game overshadowed by what turned out to be a severe knee injury to Dragon’s player coach Chris Thomas, Thunder never really got going and although close at times with shots on goals almost equal, there was never any real doubt about the outcome after the first period.

Thunder were two goals down within the opening six minutes, as Steve Fisher scored twice for the visitors, before Lee Featherstone pulled a goal back for Thunder at 7:35 assited by Keiron Goody and Aidan Mahmud. Although there was no more scoring in the period, there were chances at both ends and penalties taken on both sides.

Three Cardiff goals in the second half of the middle period killed the game off for Cardiff as they took control of the game.

Thunder had no response and lacked belief in themselves that they could reduce the deficit, and as frustration began to grow Ben Williams was ejected from the game for roughing in the fiftieth minute. Two Cardiff powerplay goals in the final period probably gave the scoreline a very one sided look, but the game was actually closer than this suggested. Five minutes from the end another bout of fisticuffs saw both Thunder’s Mike Knight and Dragon’s Gareth Dixon thrown out for roughing.

Cardiff thoroughly deserved the win whilst Thunder must rediscover that belief in themselves, re-group and move forward.
